Energy unit converter
Type a number, pick a unit, and see it in every other unit at once: energy, power, prices, voltage, current, battery capacity, energy density and CO₂. Metric, imperial and US units are all here, plus napkin units that make big numbers easier to picture.
Where do the numbers come from?
Most metric, imperial and US units are exact definitions. The fuel units, the energy densities, the CO₂ factors and the napkin units rest on assumptions, and you can see them all below. Real life varies: a bigger kettle, a colder tap or a different car gives a different answer, so read the napkin units as "roughly".
